Angela Lanfranchi, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Lanfranchi is a breast surgical oncologist and co-director of the Steeplechase Cancer Center's sanofi-aventis Breast Program.  She treats patients as individuals with differing needs and concerns.  At the first visit, a detailed questionnaire is reviewed for risk assessment, an examination is done, and all studies such as mammograms are reviewed with the patient to decide the best method of biopsy.  If there is a cancer diagnosis, she discusses this at the weekly multi-disciplinary conference at the Breast Institute of the Steeplechase Cancer Center.  A team of medical oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, a patient navigator and research nurses review the patient's history, physical exam, mammograms, pathology slides, and other studies so that all options can be explored while keeping the patient's name confidential.  Research trials that the patient may be eligible for through an affiliate of the National Cancer Institute are discussed.  Only after all results are reviewed with the patient and their loved ones is a treatment plan put in place that fits her unique situation.  Breast Cancer affects not only the patient, but her children, family, and loved ones.  All involved are supported with programs at the Wellness Community both before and after surgery, through all the treatments that follow and into survivorship.  Dr. Lanfranchi is open to alternative complimentary treatments and believes deeply in "mind-body connection" and the power of prayer.  As a physician and a daughter of a mother who died of breast cancer, she became interested in breast cancer prevention.  In 1999, she co-founded the non-profit Breast Cancer Prevention Institute in order to educate lay and medical groups in this field.  She has traveled nationally and internationally to Australia, Canada, Europe, India, New Zealand and South Africa speaking about breast cancer risks and prevention.  She has published and done research in this field.

• Breast patients must bring their mammogram and/or ultrasound films.

• Insurance Cards

First time appointments can take approximately 45 minutes.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to process your paperwork.

Cancellation Policy:
We ask that if you must cancel your appointment, please give at least 24 hours notice so another patient may be scheduled to see the doctor in your place.

*In case of emergency, one of our surgeons is available 24 hours a day.
